It was raining overnight but the sun is up. Coffee for me after this update is published.
5:40 p.m. Alaska time in Fairbanks. Some of us went to Northgate Harley and Jerry got new tires and a chain installed and I had an oil change. We are now at a bed and breakfast relaxing wondering what we will do tomorrow.
I think all bikers are accounted for. They come and go ...
The motorcycle dealership said only idiots would try Prudhoe Bay on a full sized bike. They said one year 47 Gold Wings tried it and only two made it unscathed with several totalled. On the other hand, those with specialized off road bikes such as BMWs have done the highway doing 70 MPH, mostly with no problems.
Personally, I think that when you are with a group, you aren't as focused. If we can make it thru 70 miles of road construction, Dalton Highway should be a piece of cake.
Some of us may drive up to Dalton Highway and try it for a few miles to see how it is and try to make it at least as far as Arctic Circle. Then I will drive down to Wasilla and use it for my homebase for the next few days, to take in Homer, Valdez, Mt. McKinley, etc. Some of the other bikers already made plans to tour Alaska so all is set. Jerry is set on going to Prudhoe Bay. Way to go, Jerry!!!

Covered 202 miles today for a grand total of something like 4,950 miles. It is in the mid 70s today and an absolutely gorgeous day in Alaska. Wahooooo!
Robb and I were talking about halibut. He and his wife came here five years ago and he went fishing for them. I am looking forward to going to Homer and having some fresh halibut and seafood chowder.
By the way, before and durng the trip, two of the bikers wished they had Ride-On Tire Sealant as they both got nails. I gave one of them the two sealant containers I bought along.
When I left St. Augustine, I had 40 pounds of air in my tires. Today, the dealer checked my tire pressure and it was 39 pounds. Only lost one pound of pressure in about 5,000 miles. Great product and we thank Ride-On for being a sponsor. Also, Mobil 1 synthetic ... great stuff. I use 0-40 weight as I must use the kind that does not say "energy conserving" because of the wet clutch. After 5,000 miles, it was still on the full mark.
Mobil 1 is most likely the reason why my 2000 Silver Wing now owned by Winnie in Buffalo, New York is running great after 139.000 miles.
We plan to have a leisurely full breakfast tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. and make plans for the day.
