Bikers ... if any of you are in Fairbanks, please give Robb a call.
The below was sent by Robb about 11 p.m. last night Alaska time:
Robb here.
I have been traveling with Dean, Travis and Dave for the past three days. Had a great time. we are now in Gleenallen for the evening. They plan to go down the Valdez in the AM, but frankly I'm pooped and need a break. So tomorrow (Wednesday 7/16) i will ride up to Fairbanks by myself. I heard about 3 1/2 hours. So I would like to crash with someone in Fairbanks if you would be so kind. I'll check the e-mail before I leave in the morning.
My cell is 772 485 4422. I'll check my phone every gas stop or so.
Thanks
Robb Drellich Stuart Fl

Bikers, please keep sending me updates and thanks!
So, based on this year's trip ... this was the longest layover I've ever planned in Alaska and it appears to be taking its toll ... In future years, I plan to make it a maximum of three days instead of a week. See 2009 tentative for more information.
In fact, during the years when we went to Hyder, AK, we only stayed one full day and everyone seems to be well pleased with that.
The only reason why I planned a full week for 2008 was that the part to Prudhoe Bay alone would take three full days but everyone decided at the last minute not to go so that's three extra days unplanned. So, in 2009 and 2011, three days.
This evening, I went into the Pastor's home where his wife cooked a salmon that was caught yesterday in Kenai. Nice to have church members who love to fish for salmon and halibut!
Here is a picture of the vegetable garden inside their home. Such a bright sunny spot!
Also a few herb gardens.
Here is a picture of the gastronomicalepicureandelight salmon feast!
The church is celebrating its 11th anniversary. So much has happened since they arrived ... from a three-week approval (normally takes a year) from the Board to establish a church, purchasing a junk yard, converting a quonset structure into a lovely residence and church, clearing out junk cars and other objects, replacing the knee-deep mud that was in front of the church with solid ground ... God is good!
Just got word from Dean Leger's wife .. "....there are so many people taking this journey with Dean because of you and Travis sharing pics and notes with us, I know this takes alot of time. From my conversations with Dean, he is having an awesome time and is truely enjoying the fellowship. Thanks again God bless you all and ride safe!"
If just one biker truly enjoys this trip, then all this is well worth it. With their and your feedback, revisions will be made and future trips will be so much more enjoyable and time efficient. That is the hard part ... being efficient with time because most of us have jobs and families but making it enjoyable with some R & R time but without sitting around doing nothing. Again see my plans for 2009 and 2010 and please go to feedback page and also email me at DrASL@aol.com with your suggestions.
BACK TO ALASKA IN 2009 WITH ENTHUSIASM AND ESPECIALLY IN 2010 AS A ROMANTIC BED AND BREAKFAST TOUR!!! Secure your place early as this may be limited to five couples!
