Up at 5 a.m. with enthusiasm, we had a breakfast in the lobby and were on the road by 7 a.m.   Leaving Kingdom City, MO behind in the coolness of a 64 degree blessing, we purred down the highway West to Kansas City, MO.  Here is Jerry from Citra, FL

What a majestic sight ... grain silos appearing on the horizon, marching past us to disappear behind us ... nice hills ... temperatures staying in the 70s, no rain.  We pulled into St. Joseph, MO where David Stufflebeam was waiting for us.  The seven of us had a delightful time stopping every 100 miles to stretch and to know each other better.  Lou Friedman told me that the last two nights were the best he ever slept.

It sure was great seeing David Stufflebeam, (photo from last year above) my travelling companion from last year!  He upgraded his Silver Wing with a new seat which is very comfortable indeed!

You know, riding a motorcycle takes away stress.  The open air, the open road, the sights, the frresh breeze ... ahhhhh!!!  No wonder Lou slept well!

Here's Dean Leger pulling a nifty trailer!

Anyway, we cruised Northwest into Iowa and South Dakota with a 35 MPH tail wind giving us the best gas mileage we ever had!  We pulled into Sioux Falls, South Dakota after covering 530 miles.  The Days Inn here must have rooms three times the size of the one in Monteagle!

We met Charles Claybaugh and James Behany.  Now, there are eight of us!  We will be picking up five more bikers the next couple of days.

One of the bikers had a terrific idea ... the Gold Wing has floor boards for the passenger. He had two one-gallon gas cans on the floor boards!  Now, we all will copy him so when we hit the desolate highways of Northwest Canada, we will have secure gas cans.

Tomorrow morning .. it is off to Winnipeg, Manitoba!  Woooo hooooo!!!  I am already planning 2009 with a swing around Lake Superior!  In 2010 ... a bed and breakfast tour especially for couples to enjoy the trip to Alaska.

NORTH TO ALASKA WITH ENTHUSIASM!!
