Corey grew up in California where he got his motorcycle license at age 16 and hasn’t stopped ridding since. His current ride is a 2003 Honda ST1300 ABS with a little more than 33,000 miles. He spent the last few years commuting @ 3.5 hours back and forth across Florida, but now works from his current home city Stuart, FL, as a sign language interpreter. 
 
 Corey first got involved in Sign Language thru Deaf family members. Later he started to interpret for friends and family, never realizing that an interpreter could earn money for such services. He eventually became Nationally Certified and has been working as an interpreter for the last 9 years.

 He can remember back when he was dating a deaf woman, they had to use text based relay to communicate. “It was hard to really get a flow of conversation going.” recalls Corey, “At the end of your few sentences, you had to say ‘Go Ahead’ signaling the operator that it was the other persons turn to talk.” 

 Nowadays most Deaf use a video based system to communicate, allowing Deaf to use their native ASL, a visual mode of communication, allowing for faster, more natural conversations.  

  “Perhaps that early experience with text relay served as the impetus for me to be involved with Video Relay”, says Corey “and that desire for both the Hearing and Deaf to communicate freely, seamlessly pushed me to start PureVRS”

 “I have driven across the US 4 times in a car, but this will be the first time I am taking the bike. I am proud to be a part of the endeavor, and am looking forward to meeting all the riders, making new friends, and raising money for a great cause.”
